Dear Tamiami Parents, Players, and Alum,
I would first like to thank all of you for being part of the 47 year Tamiami Basketball legacy. Tamiami has been a staple in the community for decades and it’s about to make a big impact in youth basketball in Miami Dade- County. As the new President, I have plans to expand and grow the beautiful game of Basketball here in Miami. We are going to partner with schools, parks, and organizations and invite youth basketball players and programs across the county to one facility that will bring the Basketball community together. We will provide a fun, fair, and competitive basketball experience for all of South Florida. Teams will congregate at one gym and face a variety of players and teams from a competitive and recreational level. Tamiami has a 0 tolerance policy as we encourage positive reinforcement and a level of respect amongst players, parents, fans, coaches, and officials on and off the court. We have updated our division breakdown as well as our official rule book with some new adjustments for both our competitive and recreational program. Divisions: 7u, 9u, 11u, 13u, 15u, HS, Girls JV, Girls Varsity.
In 2018 Tamiami has partnered with the Miami Heat to launch the Jr. Heat program. This season, the Miami Heat will provide every player with new official Miami Heat inspired reversible uniforms as well as a ticket to a Heat game with registration! On March 10th, we make our new partnership official by hosting our first ever Tamiami 2018 Registration event on the Xfinity Plaza at the American Airlines Arena! The event will feature the revealing of our official Miami Heat League uniforms and create each players new Tamiami profile.
You can register for the league now online and avoid lines or in person at the Arena.
This Spring Season, we will be adding our Tamiami Age Based competitive division, created for established competitive teams and organizations. For teams or organization interested in joining, please email us TamiamiBasketball@gmail.com
Our recreational program will feature a new tryout system that enhances our rating system and makes our draft system more efficient in order to properly balance each division and give every team a fair chance at competing for a championship. We will be hosting our first ever coach’s clinic at the American Airlines Arena to go over League rules, provide coaching tips and philosophies and demonstrate some tactics and effective drills.
Our referees will also be trained and graded on their performance throughout the season to ensure the best quality officiating. We are looking for volunteers and interns this Spring with Tamiami and we are also looking for potential candidates who would be interested in internships that can lead to job opportunities in fields such as parks and recreation, sports management, marketing, and more. We will also be giving back to the community every season with as an organization by donating our time, efforts, and donated goods. This past fall and winter we collected over 2 boxes of old uniforms that we plan to distribute to schools and programs in need.

There are a lot of exciting things lined up for Tamiami Basketball. We are very fortunate to have built our legacy through volunteers and our sponsors.
If you are interested in sponsoring a player or team please choose that option on the registration form or email us at Tamiami Basketball. Those sponsorships allows us to give scholarships to underprivileged kids and enhance our equipment. It will also help us reach our goal for new Floors by 2019. Tamiami is powered by our amazing volunteers comprised of parents, family, friends, and community.
Tamiami is more than a Basketball League it’s a legacy!
I look forward to seeing you and getting to know you and your families!
Thank you,
Robert Castillo
